DAY 9: why does it always rain on me? Even when the sun is shining I can’t avoid the lightening.

The title sums a part of this day up really, we cycle from Dumfries towards Kilmarnock and at around New Cumnock we got attacked by another thunder and lightening storm with PLENTY of rain! What’s annoying us that everywhere else we continued to cycle was bone dry and reports from friends/family in the surrounding area was of glorious sunshine!!!

We blasted up towards Mauchline where we dropped past Kyle’s aunts house where were fed prior to pushing on to get the 6pm ferry at Adrossan. We also met Kyle’s mum here who very kindly helped me out as I was in a pretty bad way with my eye infection, contacts had been ditched but my eyes were extremely sore and making cycling extremely dificult.

This resulted in a hospital trip unfortunately, but gladly meant I got a quick prescription that we picked up at the chemist prior to getting the ferry. This combined with an eye bath and keeping my contacts out would hopefully sort the eyes out.

We made our ferry in reasonable time despite pushing most of the day in worry of missing it, and it was plain sailing over to Arran where we checked in, had a decent relax with a stwam room and sauna to gel our bodies out followed by a great dinner in the Auchrannie hotel, I think the picture of dessert probably does the overall meal justice!

Good nights sleep required AGAIN as you would expect so we got our heads down knowing that that hill between Brodick and Lochranza was sitting there quietly wearing our arrival the next morning!

Big thanks to Kyle’s mum again fir bringingbus our new bits of clothing that we had planned and treking me over to the hospital!!

Cheers,

Hammy
